MOMENTS OF THE WEEK

Happy Halloween! This past weekend was super fun! There were many festive on campus activities to take part of during the week and on the weekend!   I made my own costume Friday night and I could not have been more excited. It seems weird, but since last summer I knew exactly what I wanted to be… A Wacky Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man! Yes. I was one of those waving things you see at car dealerships. And, yes, I flailed and waved all night long. I actually got so into it, that I cannot move my neck now because I gave myself whiplash. L Anyway, here’s how I made it! First, I bought two pop-up hampers from Amazon. I cut off the bottom of one of them so I could fit inside both hampers when standing up. Then I used zip-ties to attach the hampers to each other since I cannot sew. Once attached, I covered and wrapped the hampers with a plastic tablecloth that I bought at Party City for a dollar using super glue! Next, I cut out holes for my arms (cutting through both the hamper an

This Friday night I saw The Dirty Heads at Higher Ground! I’ve never been to a concert at Higher Ground before, so I was super excited to go. I had also never seen the Dirty Heads live. Anyway, they were great! I went with a few friends and had a great time. The opening band, Rdgldgrn, (which is RedGoldGreen without the vowels), was so good at riling the crowd. At one point, Mr. Green, asked the audience to split down the middle and he stood in the middle of the crowd next to me for a few songs! The second band to open, was the New Beat Fund. They were good, but not as good as the Rdgldgrn or the Dirty Heads. The first song the Dirty Heads played was “Dance All Night”. They played all of the songs I knew including my favorite “My Sweet Summer”.

This past Wednesday I saw The American Shakespeare Center perform Romeo And Juliet . Every year, Saint Michael’s has them come back to perform a different play. Currently, in my Shakespeare class, I am reading this play, so it was exceptionally relevant! The cast engaged with the audience and they were so hilarious. I did not expect to love the production as much as I did, so I am so glad I went!

MCCARTHY ARTS CENTER Saint Michael's theater is called McCarthy Arts Center. Here, many plays are put on, but also music and other performances. Upstairs you will find solo practice rooms! Each equipped with a piano! Currently, I am teaching myself guitar as well as piano. This is a great place to come to practice! Also, another fact, is that you can take lessons with a music professor here, for credit!!

This week I went apple picking twice!  One time was with my mentoring program, Dream, and the other was actually part of my job!  Anyway, Chapin Orchards is a beautiful orchard right in Essex Vermont.  They have pumpkins, cider, donuts, and millions of apples!  It's a great place to pick apples with friends or family while enjoying the amazing view! The SMC mentors helped their mentees pick apples and also prevented them from throwing them at each other! My friend Olivia and I picked a bushel of apples for the admissions department to give to students at Saturday's Open House I was so excited for my friends from New Jersey to visit me this weekend, but something came up and they couldn’t make the drive  L  I was going to take them hiking at Mount Philo, so I took my friends at Saint Mikes instead! Even though it looked like it was going to rain in the morning, we went anyway, and it turned out to be perfect weather. It is a very easy and short hike if you ar

It’s that time of the year when almost EVERYONE is sick with a cold. I blame my roommate Emily for getting me sick. Now I feel like the baby in this GIF. I can’t stop sneezing and all I want to do is sleep, but I can’t because I have so many things to do. The reason I am sick is because I didn’t get much sleep all week. I had so much homework and a big test for my global communications class. This test required me to learn where all the countries in the world are! Honestly, when I began studying I realized I did not have any prior knowledge so it was very stressful and challenging to learn everything. However, I think I ended up doing really well! All of my late nights studying on Sporcle and printing out maps to write on paid off. This past Friday, the 30 th , was my roommate Kyrstin’s 21 st birthday!! While my roommates and I took her out to dinner, my other friends decorated our apartment and got the party set up. Then when we came home, everyone in our apa
